Gypsie Princess Effie's Logs: Entry Seven — Saving the Razorback Helphalump and Averting a War
Black Hawk saves the razorback helphalump and averts a war while reuniting with old friends.
If you wish to start at the beginning, it is here.
=============================================================
Much to nobody’s surprise, there was a knock at the door this morning with another delivery for Effie.
The back steps were still under construction, so without much of an argument, Ichigo picked up the workers and the delivery and carried them all inside the house.
Black Hawk, being the benevolent Machiavellian Prince that he is, was satisfied that the workers did not walk in through the front door.
Effie took the workers upstairs, and, for another 20 minutes or so, worked with them getting her room set up just right. Effie had the workers move all of her room furnishings plus her new red silky red ceiling drapes into the cloakroom [room inside a cloak] she purchased and set up her room so that she could hang her cloak over the door in a way that you did not know if you were going into her cloak.
Her newfound friend orangutan followed her downstairs, much to Effie’s dismay, because she found herself having to explain why she had an orangutan. Effie was able to deflect suspicion though, when she told everybody that it was not an orangutan but instead a tiger. When pressed for her name, Effie said the orangutan was named Tigress.
After a long discussion over if the baby orangutan was in fact a tiger or not, the group focused back on the task at hand in finding the razorback helphalump.
Black Hawk, once again using the poo he had on hand from the creature, used his equally gross evil eye power and said the creature was in the town and send his hawks searching.
Trilby’s rodent reticulum revealed the reeking razorback helphalumps’s location to her, and as quickly as she can muster, Trilby leads the group to find a living, bouncing, talking jack-o-lantern, who, as it turns out, is friends with Black Hawk and is named Jack, trying to lead the razorback helphalump to somebody called, the duck.
Jack lets slip that he needs razorback helphalump for the duck to start a war, but Black Hawk says, sorry but he is taking the razorback helphalump.
The razorback helphalump, in the meanwhile, is eating anything that gets too close to it, including a house, when it decides that the party looks good to eat.
Ichigo takes to the skies in a plan to knock it out of its body so we can return it alive. Effie takes to the skies in her boots and uses her flame powers to sense the creature’s general location and outline it with fire.
Black Hawk sends some of his Hawks at it, but when the creature eats some of his Hawks, it causes Black Hawk some sort of psychic damage, so he instead uses his Hawks to quickly lift him up out of the way, as Trilby summons sheep rats to get in the way of the creature.
Despite how ferocious and terrible Ichigo is to behold. the invisible razorback helphalump is equally as terrible to behold, and Ichigo is not able to overcome the creature.
Effie realizing the razorback helphalump is following the jack-o-lantern uses her fire powers on the fire inside the jack-o-lantern to make it move the direction to return the creature to Five Mab Don.
This works.
Once paid, the group takes Jack to a bar, where Black Hawk learns that his old friend Evil Duck is trying to start a war in town as a distraction because there is a powerful gem or map to the gem rumored to be in town. The gems were worn in a crown by the Pestilence of the Four Horsemen, who, it turns out, is the father of Trilby, which explains the rodents.
Duck is working with Dimitri Romanov, who is not so keen on so agrees to join up with Black Hawk Enterprises instead.
The group then seeks out a witch, who is rumored to live outside of town in the wastelands, to help Black Hawk with his psychic damage and find out more about who lives in the house next door. Other than Ichigo and sheep rodents killing orc owlbear bear owl bandits, the trip to the witch is uneventful. The witch is very helpful and gives Black Hawk some foul brew to drink for his problems, informs us the devil is our neighbor at 666, and politely asks us to leave and never return as long as Black Hawk is intent on trying to poke the devil with a stick. She does give Black Hawk some flying dust though as a parting gift in case he wants to fly away or something.
The group returns home, and Duck sets out to find out more information about the gem we are now seeking.
A couple days later, Duck says there is a man, One-Eyed Joe, with a map to the gem, and he is selling it so he can afford a trip home.
The group comes up with a plan to act as the man’s protector and fend off the other people who want to buy or steal it from him.
Black Hawk has the party take up position on the roof of a building overlooking the approach to the ship that One-Eyed Joe is on.
The group ambushes the first group of thugs to show up. Black Hawk and Trilby open fire with his pistols trying to target anybody who has magic or a gun. Ichigo kills 2 men with his sword, and Effie, who took up pacifism earlier that day, tosses Jack down at the docks to start a fire.
The ambushed thugs put up little resistance as Effie creates a wall of fire to block the ship off from approach, and the fighting forces of Black Hawk make short work of them.
Trilby, riding on the back of a giant bat, flies over the second larger group of thugs, who turns out to be our neighbors, and single-handedly thwarts them all when she summons a herd of hippo-sized rodents, collapsing the dock and anybody on it into the water.
Effie uses her magics to gather up the remaining flames and have it shoot up into the sky, forming a giant flaming hawk, before it plummets like a meteor into the dock in a giant mushroom cloud-looking fireball, as the works Black Hawk are spelled out so everybody knows not to mess with Black Hawk.
The group then goes to talk with One-Eyed Joe and finds out he will sell the map to us if we can get him home.
Black Hawk knows how to get the man home, so he agrees, but asks that the man at least show us the map as a good-faith jester.
Trilby instantly memorizes the map when the man shows it to us.
Effie then offers to put everybody in her cloakroom and fly the group over the ocean through the first war glass, following the directions of Black Hawk.
Black Hawk likes the plan, so Effie casts a fire protection spell on the group before swirling her cloak over the group. The group find themselves in Effie’s room, but the entire thing is on fire but nothing is burning.
Effie’s voice comes out of the fire in the room, as she asks for directions, and a short time later, she has the group come out of her cloak in the freezing cold world of Toverwald.
Effie casts another spell on the group; and they are no longer cold, but they head into a local town to buy some winter clothes.
